Founded in 1991 by Sofina and Colruyt, Sofindev has grown into a trusted name in the investment landscape. What began as an ambitious initiative by two Belgian industrial families has evolved into a fully independent private equity partner, backed by a broad base of family and institutional investors. From a modest start with five passionate investment professionals, Sofindev has become a strong and dynamic team of 18. Throughout this journey, one thing has remained unchanged: our no-nonsense, human approach—still proudly at the heart of the Sofindev DNA.

As an independent private equity firm, Sofindev focuses on growth capital investments in profitable small and mid-sized companies headquartered in the Benelux. With a broad sector focus, we bring deep experience in IT and software solutions, business services, food and healthcare, specialized wholesale and logistics, and industrial manufacturing.
Over the course of 6 funds, Sofindev has invested over €600 million in more than 60 companies. Today, we manage two active funds—Sofindev V and Sofindev VI—and stand out through our strong commitment to creating meaningful value.

The Netherlands as our second home market
While Sofindev was founded in Belgium in 1991, our vision has always extended beyond borders. With many Belgian companies viewing the Netherlands as a natural extension of their home market—and vice versa—opening an office in Amsterdam was a logical next step to support our growth ambitions and those of our portfolio companies.
The arrival of Lodewijk Koeman as Partner in 2023 marked a new chapter in strengthening our local presence and building long-term relationships with Dutch entrepreneurs. Today, nine out of our fifteen portfolio companies have a strong footprint in the Netherlands, achieved through both organic growth and targeted acquisitions.
