Founded in the Netherlands in 2008 and expanded to Belgium in 2011, Merkator develops solutions that contribute to safer streets and better-managed networks. The group created platforms such as Marlin, for building digital twins of networks, and Eaglebe, which helps municipalities manage public space permits more efficiently.

In 2022, the group was strengthened by the acquisition of GIM and GIM Wallonie, specialists in geodata and custom solutions for public authorities, utilities, and financial institutions. Their product Belmap provides detailed information on buildings, addresses, and parcels in the Benelux, and is used for risk management, network planning, and commercial applications.

In 2025, SIGGIS joined the group. This Belgian GIS specialist operates in multiple countries and brings expertise in Esri and VertiGIS technologies, offering services in integration, development, training, and support.
